InnoDB is a storage engine for MySQL databases, which is used by well known script-based web apps such as Magento and Joomla v3. It’s ideal for scalable apps, since it performs astonishingly well when processing huge amounts of data. Instead of locking the entire table to append new information to a database like many other engines do, InnoDB locks only one database row, so it can process much more operations for the same period of time. In addition, InnoDB offers a much faster database failure recovery and supports transactions and foreign keys – rules that specify how data imports and modifications should be treated. In case a certain task has not been thoroughly completed for whatever reason, the action will be rolled back. In this way, the content in the database will be preserved undamaged and won’t be partially mixed with new content.

InnoDB in Cloud Hosting

InnoDB is available with all our cloud hosting by default, not upon request or as a paid upgrade, so you will be able to activate and manage any script-based software application which requires the database engine without any problems as soon as you order your account. InnoDB will be selected automatically as the default engine for a given database during the app activation process, no matter if you make use of our single-click installation tool or create the database and install the app manually, on the condition that the application requires InnoDB instead of the more popular MyISAM engine. We will perform regular MySQL database backups, so you can rest assured that you’ll never lose any data in case you erase a database unintentionally or you overwrite some essential info – you’ll simply have to contact us and we will restore your data back to normal.
